Station offices decision delay

THE row over a controversial railway station office building has still not been resolved despite more than a year of legal bickering, planning arguments and a complaint to the ombudsman.
South Hams councillors were supposed to decide this week whether or not to give the go ahead for the £200,000 ‘rail control centre’ offices at Kingswear railway station which were built and occupied some 12 months ago without planning permission.
But the meeting on Wednesday almost collapsed after it was discovered in the middle of the debate that the site plans for the Dartmouth Steam Railway and Riverboat Company application had been drawn up incorrectly.
Despite calls for a deferment, councillors agreed to carry on, only to decide to shelve making any decision anyway – and hold a full committee site inspection instead.
