Ivybridge Hotel at heart of the plan
IDEAS to boost Ivy-bridge town centre were shared with the public last week – and they include building a 26-bedroom hotel in Ivybridge Leisure Centre.
Around 60 residents heard the proposals as they met with the Town Team.
The team shared its 10-point ‘vision’ for the town, which featured a 26-bedroom hotel on the lido part of the leisure centre, building restaurants on the centre’s ground floor with views over the river Erme and improving the town’s access to Dartmoor National Park.
The team will now put the proposals to further consultation before deciding its next step.
Town team chairman MP Gary Streeter said: ‘It was very well attended and our 10 point plan seemed very well received.
‘There were lots of interesting comments and questions which came from the audience.
‘We seem to be making significant progress – but there is much work to be done.’
The town team, made up of traders, councillors, volunteers and stakeholders, has been working since last autumn to identify areas for improvement to help the town move forward.
Its vision was created using results of a commissioned study into how Ivybridge can build on its existing assets.
