Fanfare for new Dartmouth flavel seats
Comfortable new seats for the popular Flavel Arts Centre in Dartmouth are to be installed in early January 2014 and following ambitious and successful fund raising, the new retractable seating for the Flavel auditorium will soon be in place.
Doug Twigg, who led the fundraising campaign, said “The present seating is nine years old and needed upgrading and we were able to raise the required funds for the new seats in eight months. We have had many generous donations from our supporters for which we are immensely grateful.”
All donors to the campaign are being invited to a dramatic inaugural celebration on the evening of 9th January 2014 when the first roll-out of the seats will take place, followed immediately by a short concert by local artists and supporters.
The Flavel auditorium will be closed until 10th January while the installation takes place and will reopen with the usual varied and interesting programme
of events commencing with two films, The Hobbit in the afternoon and “The Butler” (a fascinating story about a White House butler who served eight American presidents). The Flavel Trustees are now busy planning Phase 2 of the Auditorium upgrade, to include handrails up the steps, improved lighting and better front
row seats. Contributions towards these further improvements are very welcome
and can be made through the box office or online.
