Dartmouth Regatta – out of control !

Angry Old Dartmothians have launched a furious and unprecedented attack on the town’s royal regatta organisers following last year’s huge show.
The association, which was launched during the regatta 91 years ago, fears the modern event, with its air displays, food stalls and its marquee ‘village’, has become ‘out of control’.
They claim the regatta, which brings tens of thousands of visitors into the town during its main three days, has become too big and is no longer an event for local people.
They are concerned over the way the way the regatta team decided to turn the organisation into a limited company back in 2011 without consulting with the town.
And they are furious at the way the town’s much-prized Royal Avenue Gardens and South Embankment were treated during last year’s event.
