Final Parade for Commanding Office of the Britannia Royal Naval College

Captain (Capt) Jerry Kyd, has taken the salute at the latest passing-out-parade at the College as he prepares to leave on promotion.
Capt Kyd will step down as the head of BRNC on Wednesday 12 February for a new posting as Commander United Kingdom Task Group (COMUKTG) in the rank of Commodore.
For his last parade Capt Kyd was invited to act as the VIP inspecting officer and took the salute as five Cadets, promoted from the ranks, celebrated the end of their 10 weeks training and their formal commissioning as Royal Navy Officers. Due to the inclement weather, the parade took place indoors, on the College quarter-deck. The group passing out were joined on parade by two other platoons of Officer Cadets.
Capt Kyd said: “The passing-out-parade is probably one of the most rewarding occasions for everyone at BRNC. Not only is it the culmination of the Cadets hard work and endeavour, it’s also a testament to the dedication of the staff, who are inspirational in helping them achieve their goal. The latest group to complete the course will be a valuable addition to the Officer Corps because of the experience they will bring having already served in the Royal Navy for many years. Being the Commanding Officer of this world renowned naval training College has been a real privilege. I shall leave with a tinge of sadness, but also with much excitement for the challenges ahead of me. I’m sure these are sentiments that I share with the newly commissioned Officers and I wish them well for what I am sure will be a fantastic future in the Senior Service.”
Capt Kyd took Command of BRNC in September 2012. He will be relieved by Capt Henry Duffy, whose previous appointment was as the Captain Surface Ships, Portsmouth Flotilla.
