DARTMOUTH Academy and Dartmouth Caring are hosting their annual fashion show on Friday, March 28.

The show is organised by Dartmouth Academy’s textile teacher Anne-Marie Rowden and Dartmouth Caring will help to judge the event.

Other judges will include academy principal Nick Hindmarsh, Mistral manager Tracie Fox, the previous owner of Juste Moi Jane Williams, and Kate Baker who has worked as a fashion buyer for several companies.

Fifty students will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk and showing off their designs.

The fashion show gives many students the opportunity to show off their final pieces for their GCSE or A Level in textile design.

The judges will assess the designs and a first and second place will be awarded in two age groups.

Anne-Marie said: “This is the most exciting part of my academic year. It is an overwhelming feeling when you see the students on the catwalk showing off all their hard work.

“A huge amount of time is spent each year organising the show, which is growing and getting better every year. Myself and the students are very excited about this year’s show.”

Dartmouth Caring is a charity set up to help and support the elderly and vulnerable in Dartmouth and the surrounding villages.

It will be running a prize draw on the night with all proceeds going towards helping the charity carry out its work within the community.

Proceeds from the admission tickets will go to the academy.

Principal Nick Hindmarsh said: “The fashion show has been a very successful event in the past because of the hard work put in by our students and staff and this year will be no different.

“Dartmouth Academy is proud to be associated with Dartmouth Caring, and the fashion show is another example of that great relationship. We are all looking forward to a great show.”

The event will be held at the academy from 7.30pm. Tickets
