Dartmouth Town Council fill latest to vacancy.

OHMS Suarez is the latest councillor to be appointed to Dart-mouth Town Council. Originally from the Philippines, he has lived in the town for eight years where he works as a health care assistant and chef at Beacon House care home. Mr Suarez was co-opted on to the council at this month’s meeting and fills the vacancy left by Felicity Smith. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineer, Mr Suarez worked in business and become a manager in a motor sale company. He has been married for 19 years to Aloha, a former nurse in the Philippines, who now also works as a senior carer and support worker at Beacon House. They have three children, Paulo, Troy and Reign. Mr Suarez said: ‘I’ve always been interested in politics since my young adult years and now in reality I wanted to make a difference and be involved in shaping the future of the local community. ‘I want to ensure that the community gets the right services. ‘I also want to represent the views of local people and ensure that community interests are taken into account. ‘I also hope to pursue local beliefs, to contribute in local business and professional skills. ‘I want to be an extension of what the council is already doing through charity, voluntary groups and school governing bodies. ‘My vision in Dartmouth is for our community to be safe, healthy, active and to grow. I am just a simple citizen with a huge goal in our community.’
