DARTMOUTH Town Council has been threatened with legal action

Millionaires’ Row joke brings threat of legal action
DARTMOUTH Town Council has been threatened with legal action after sparking an ‘affordable homes’ row over the naming of a luxury block of flats. A war of words has broken out after the council rejected the name Sails for a £4 million block of six apartments under construction at the old St John Ambulance Station near Coronation Park. Instead councillors called by seven votes to three for the building to be called Millionaires Row. Now the developer behind the scheme, Environ Communities Ltd, of Bradford Upon Avon, says it will consider a claim for damages against the town council if sales of the flats suffer as a result. ‘This must be a joke surely,’ Environ’s executive co-chairman Tony Dowse said in an e-mail to South Hams Council’s street naming and numbering officer. ‘We certainly object and if it loses us sales we will be suing somebody. ‘Who in their right mind wants to live on Millionaires Row?’
