Dartmouth Tourist Information Centre huge increases
The Tourist Information Centre has just reviewed the season’s statistics and we have had some huge increases to report, particularly in the ever growing number of visitors to the ‘not for profit’ self funded centre, (which is even more surprising following the quieter Spring months we had in 2014 due to the extremely wet weather and the broken rail link at Dawlish, which the rolling news assisted in giving the impression that Devon was completely cut off!)
The visitor figures through the door have increased from 115,000 to 143,000 (the team has noted there has been a significant increase in overseas visitors this year, and they have also been staying longer in Dartmouth which is great news for the town, we have heard from them that Dartmouth features in many travel books in various countries, as a “must visit place “! The teams’ language skills have been a realasset , when helping them get the very best of their visit to Dartmouth and the surrounding area. They have received in excess of 5000 telephone calls to the centre and over 3000 email enquiries.
The small team of just one paid, full time Manager, three part time staff and a group of wonderful, enthusiastic volunteers, ( including a volunteer board of Directors), have also managed to sell over 3000 tickets for our subscribers and the town’s wonderful festivals and an incredible 30,000 leaflets have also been collected from the centre. If any of your readers would like to join our team of volunteers, to help ensure
our visitors get the very best experience of their time in Dartmouth.
