Dartmouth school children enjoy Rugby World cup themed sports day
CHILDREN at a Dartmouth primary school displayed excellent competition as sportsmanship at a Rugby World Cup themed sports day.
The pupils at St John the Baptist RC Primary School were blessed by the wonderful weather and all the competitors were all rewarded with medals and ice lollies.
Ms Waiters, head of PE at the school, said “It was a fantastic day. The children showed great athletic skills and sportsmanship.
“I’d personally like to thank all the pupils and staff for helping the day run so smoothly.
“Everybody had a great time and the parents gave us all a good laugh in the ‘Mums V Dads sack race.'”
The event was kicked off by the Year six boys performing a unique interpretation of the Haka dance for the parents.
In recognition of each team’s achievements they were rewarded with medals and ice lollies, and lots of individual certificates were handed to pupils who showed outstanding sportsmanship, effort and kindness.
Events ranged from the classic penalty shootout and assault course, to the more abstract target ball and sponge shower.
